Built in 1969 within Almaty's Main Botanical Garden, this 1,025 m² exhibition greenhouse arranges its collections into five departments: tropical, subtropical, aquatic and coastal plants, succulents, and a palm house. It preserves remarkable specimens reaching twenty meters tall, including cycads 80 to 90 years old. Serving conservation, scientific research and education, and, since 2018, horticultural production through an adjoining modern Korean-built greenhouse, it stands as one of the few surviving examples of Soviet botanical architecture still active in Central Asia. A reconstruction project launched in 2022 is set to give the site, among other things, a limonarium devoted to citrus fruits.
