Inaugurated on May 17, 2023, by Megawati Soekarnoputri to mark the 206th anniversary of the Kebun Raya Bogor, this orchid greenhouse is named after Soedjana Kassan, the garden's first Indonesian director and a renowned orchid expert. Construction, begun in 2019, cost more than 38 billion rupiah and produced a two-wing building of 6,813 m², complemented by a 1,560 m² in vitro culture laboratory. It houses about 450 species of orchids, both native and hybrid, displayed at various stages of bloom near the garden's Gate 3. The site carries diplomatic history: it was here, in 1965, that President Sukarno gave North Korean leader Kim Il-sung an orchid that later took the name Kimilsungia, which became a national symbol in North Korea.
