The Jinhae Botanic Museum (진해보타닉뮤지엄), presented as the first private arboretum of South Gyeongsang Province, occupies a hillside of Mount Jangbok in Changwon. A tall glazed greenhouse, with a metal frame and shading screens, sits within its wildflower gardens; a fountain, hydrangeas, mosses, ground-cover plants and rhododendrons make up its decor. It is distinct from the municipal greenhouse of the Jinhae Bay Ecological Forest, about a hundred metres away, which has a different operator and free entry.

History
The Jinhae Botanic Museum (진해보타닉뮤지엄) presents itself as the first private arboretum of South Gyeongsang Province. According to an article in the daily Gyeongnam Shinmun of May 2018 it opened in April 2017; a blog of February 2026 places it halfway up Mount Jangbok. The newspaper frames it as a place of "green tourism", next to the Jinhae Dream Park and the Jinhae Bay Ecological Forest.
The greenhouse is one of the eight themes of the route described in 2018, the last on the list, after the rock garden, the square garden, the moss garden, the totem-pole garden, the "flower palace", the sky path and the path of happiness. A visitor went in during July 2018, and several accounts of 2026 still describe it.
It must not be confused with the municipal greenhouse of the Jinhae Bay Ecological Forest, about a hundred metres away: a separate building, another operator, free entry and closed on Mondays, according to visitors in 2026.
Architecture and engineering
Visitors speak of a "small glass greenhouse" (visit of July 2018) and, in August 2026, of a glass greenhouse that follows the outdoor gardens, where the high glass ceiling avoids any stuffy feeling. Photographs from a visit on 25 May 2026 show a tall volume with glazed walls and roof on a metal frame, shading screens rolled out under the roof, a brick-paved floor and picnic tables among the shrubs. A 2018 article notes that the greenhouse roof serves as the backdrop of the square garden, planted with miscanthus (억새). A blog of May 2026 says one reaches it after a small artificial waterfall and that tables allow one to sit inside; according to this visitor, the photo spot of the 목향 roses is behind the greenhouse, and stone steps lead from there to the "flower palace". A 2018 visitor notes a stream-like decor, and the 2018 newspaper a fountain.
Plant collections
The 2018 article details the interior: around a fountain, hydrangeas of various colours; on the rocks, ground-cover plants and mosses, including 누운주름 and 천사의눈물 ("angel's tears"); foxgloves of vivid shapes and colours and several species of 만병초 rhododendrons in a mass; and finally rare wildflowers such as the podophyllum 포도필룸 플레이안툼, the 깽깽이풀 and the 등심붓꽃. The newspaper adds that the greenhouse lets one see wildflowers and ground covers bloom even in winter. A visitor in May 2026 saw many mosses and wildflowers there, looking more natural than artificial; the photos show rhododendrons in bloom, purple and pink.
At the scale of the whole garden the counts differ: 70 tree species, 210 shrub species and over 3,000 wildflower species according to the 2018 newspaper and a 2026 blog, but 160, 240 and 600 species in a 2019 article by the Korea Tourism Organization.
Visiting
The greenhouse stands in a hillside garden: reaching it on foot from the bus stop is a steep climb of about twenty-three minutes according to a 2026 visitor, who advises a taxi on the way up; the garden has many steps and suits strollers and wheelchairs poorly. The café, in a long building with stepped seating, opens onto Jinhae Bay. The peak periods are late April and early May, when the mokhyang rose turns the whole garden yellow, summer for the hydrangeas, and the October (Halloween) and December (Christmas) displays; in winter the greenhouse offers shelter.
To be combined with the neighbouring municipal greenhouse of the Jinhae Bay Ecological Forest, about a hundred metres away, free but closed on Mondays, then with the ecological forest and the Jinhae Dream Park.
