History
The glasshouse belongs to the agricultural technology centre of Goesan County, at Seobu-ri in Goesan-eup, at 169 Imkkeokjeong-ro. A Newsis report dated 6 November 2014 announces the construction, on lots 146-1 of Seobu-ri, of an organic ecological experience hall (유기농 생태체험관) built as a 1,157 m² glass greenhouse, for a budget of 27 hundred million won, that is 2.7 billion won. The same article says the interior and exterior works were already finished and that the building was expected to be completed before the end of 2014. A news1 report published the same day speaks of a completion scheduled for that month. Both reports present the facility as an educational space on organic farming, intended for use during the World Organic Agriculture Expo that Goesan planned for 18 September to 11 October 2015 on the Donjin stream site. The year 2014 is therefore kept as the announced completion year, not as a verified opening date.
Architecture and engineering
The building has a glass envelope (유리온실, glass greenhouse), a floor area of 1,157 m² and geothermal heating (지열난방), which the 2014 Newsis report mentions. The centre's official facility plan (시설배치도) numbers twelve installations, among them the main building (본관), the natural learning area (자연학습체험장), an organic orchard (유기과원) and an 'organic ecological experience hall' (유기농생태체험장, name close to that of the 2014 building, identity not confirmed). No greenhouse footprint is traced in OpenStreetMap for this centre.
Plant collections
The 2014 report says the plants are grown without pesticides or chemical fertilisers and that native Korean plants (토종식물) are displayed for their visual effect. The building was also meant to serve as an educational resource on organic agriculture. The county's tourism page groups the glasshouse with the natural learning area, a pond (둠벙), a salt-pan site (염전), a station raising freshwater snails used in organic rice paddies (우렁이종패장) and a site named « 유기동물농장 ».
Visiting
The glasshouse is part of a public agricultural technology centre at Seobu-ri in Goesan-eup. The county tourism site classes the centre's facilities as viewing-oriented (관람 중심) and presents organic itineraries titled 'Goesan Organic Healing Tour' (괴산 유기농 힐링투어), 'Forest Healing Organic Tour' (숲속힐링 유기농투어) and 'Organic Goesan Roots Tour' (유기농괴산 뿌리찾기 투어).
