The Liangzhu Culture and Art Center (良渚文化艺术中心), nicknamed "the big roof" (大屋顶), was designed by Tadao Ando at the request of the developer Vanke, in Liangzhu Culture Village, Hangzhou. Under one large roof, three separate volumes house a theatre, a library and a gallery; exposed concrete dominates. The centre opened to the public in 2016.

History
The centre stands in Liangzhu Culture Village (良渚文化村), in Yuhang District, Hangzhou. The developer Vanke (万科), which laid out the village, invited Tadao Ando to design it. Its shape has earned it the nickname 大屋顶, "the big roof". This exposed-concrete building officially opened to the public in 2016.
After David Chipperfield's Liangzhu Museum, it has become another of the village's popular cultural venues.
Architecture
Set among cherry trees, the building places its theatre, library and gallery in three separate "boxes" sheltered beneath one broad roof. Exposed concrete plays the leading part. Over the stairwell, triangular openings cut through the roof bring daylight down onto the concrete. Inside there is also a bright space whose glazing runs from floor to ceiling, turned towards the landscape.
Use today
A non-profit public library has moved into the centre, which runs many cultural events.
