In Flower Park Kagoshima, at Ibusuki, a tropical greenhouse holds plants that the park says cannot survive winter in the local climate. The official page highlights the large number of ヒメショウジョウヤシ palms, along with ヒスイカズラ and Medinilla magnifica. In the photograph the park publishes, the roof is glazed and carried by a fine metal framework. The park opened in 1996; the hours are those of the park.

History
Flower Park Kagoshima covers 36.5 hectares at Ibusuki, Kagoshima Prefecture. The Japanese encyclopedia dates its opening to 25 May 1996 and notes that the park holds seasonal events every year: a character show during the Golden Week holidays in May, bamboo lanterns in August and illuminations in December.
Architecture and engineering
The official photograph of the greenhouse, used as the main image of the park page devoted to it, shows a space covered by a glazed roof. The light panels are held by a fine metal framework whose lines describe a light structure rather than masonry. On the ground, a pale paving runs along a wooden edge, and a green-painted metal balustrade closes off a path lined with plants. The entry takes no measurement from the photograph and describes only what it shows: a glazed roof, a slender framework, a planted interior in open ground, and palms with red stems in the foreground.
Plant collections
The park presents the greenhouse as a place where tropical plants are shown that would not survive the winter of the region. Its official page highlights the palm ヒメショウジョウヤシ, of which the park says a great many can be seen at once, together with ヒスイカズラ and Medinilla magnifica (メディニラ・マグニフィカ). A tourist notice about Ibusuki names the same plants and describes them as rare. The travel article from Airtrip adds ショクダイオオコンニャク, presented as the plant with the largest flower in the world, and plants native to Southeast Asia and Latin America, without naming them. The japan.travel site refers to a permanent display of tropical plants throughout the year.
Visiting
The greenhouse lies within a 36.5-hectare park whose areas are linked by paths. The official site lists several neighbouring places: a butterfly house (蝶の館), a flower library (花の図書館), an observation gallery (展望回廊), an observation terrace and a separate « 屋内庭園 » garden. This covered garden, described as semi-artificial, has a transparent roof and remains open on two sides; it is not the closed greenhouse, and it is better located separately on the park map. The main annual events, such as the December illuminations or the August bamboo lanterns, take place across the whole park.
