Founded in 1942 along the Danube, the Botanical Garden of Comenius University in Bratislava covers about seven hectares and is one of Slovakia's principal botanical gardens. Its tropical and subtropical glasshouse brings together plants from the warm regions of the world, including palms, cacti and orchids. The garden, scientific and educational in purpose, is open to the public for both recreation and botanical study.
