History

The building, designed by Tadao Ando, houses the Asahi Shimbun newspaper's local bureau in Okayama. It was completed in 1999.

Architecture

Exposed concrete walls and a frosted-glass curtain wall make a space where light and shade are balanced, like a museum. The ground floor is a car park; the first and second floors are offices.

Visiting

The first-floor hall can be visited; the offices are working premises. The building is closed on the days when the newspaper takes its regular break. It is about ten minutes' walk from JR Okayama Station.
