For the International Garden and Greenery Exposition, held in Osaka in 1990, Tadao Ando designed the "Garden of Fine Arts" pavilion, a reinforced-concrete garden where famous paintings reproduced on ceramic plates were shown in the open air. History

The International Garden and Greenery Exposition was held in 1990 in Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park in Osaka, on the theme of the coexistence of nature and humanity. Tadao Ando designed a pavilion there, the "Garden of Fine Arts".

Four of the paintings shown in it were later installed in the Garden of Fine Arts in Kyoto, also designed by Ando. The Osaka pavilion no longer exists.

Architecture

The pavilion was a reinforced-concrete garden. Famous paintings, among them Michelangelo's Last Judgment and Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper, were reproduced there on ceramic plates and shown in the open air.

Visiting

The four surviving paintings can be seen at the Garden of Fine Arts in Kyoto.
