This junior high school, opened in 1997 in Harima Science Garden City, in Tatsuno, was designed by Tadao Ando together with the neighbouring primary school. Its building occupies the east end of an east-west axis, with a plaza in the middle. Ando also drew the school's emblem.
History
The school opened on 1 April 1997. Together with the neighbouring primary school, they were the first public primary school and junior high school founded in Harima Science Garden City (播磨科学公園都市). Tadao Ando designed the buildings of both schools; he also drew by hand the school's emblem, titled "Infinite Power" (無限の力) and adopted in December 1997.
Architecture
The two schools are laid out along an east-west axis, with a plaza in the middle and, at the two ends, the primary school building and the junior high school building. The junior high school is on the east side. The teaching buildings are linear, with an oval-plan gymnasium beside them. The grounds of the two schools adjoin, and one can pass freely from one to the other.
Use today
The school is run by the Harima Kōgen joint administrative association (播磨高原広域事務組合).
