Opened in 1989 at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, the Fuqua Conservatory brings together, under one glass roof, a humid rainforest biome and a desert biome, home to exotic birds, tortoises, and poison dart frogs displayed in partnership with the neighboring Zoo Atlanta. In 2002 it gained the Fuqua Orchid Center, a climate-controlled extension dedicated to the conservation of rare orchids from around the world. Together they form one of the most visited botanical attractions in the southeastern United States. The conservatory is named for Dorothy Chapman Fuqua, a patron who helped fund it.
