History

The Tennoji Fair (天王寺博覧会) ran from 1 August to 8 November 1987 in Tennoji Park, which was redeveloped for the occasion. Tadao Ando designed its main pavilion. After the fair, the building served as a screening hall and a plant greenhouse.

By 2017 these two facilities were no longer in use: the City of Osaka then chose an operator to demolish them and build new facilities in their place, in the park's entrance area. The pavilion was demolished in 2018.
