« Five biomes under glass, in the world's oldest university botanical garden. »

Added to the botanical garden founded in 1545 by the University of Padua — the world's oldest university botanical garden still on its original site, and a UNESCO World Heritage site — the Giardino della Biodiversità nearly doubles the surface area of the historic grounds. Its contemporary glass volumes recreate five major terrestrial biomes along a decreasing humidity gradient, from humid rainforests to arid environments, using technologies designed to limit the environmental impact of the greenhouses themselves.
