Opened in 1910-1911 in Poznań's Wilson Park, the Palmiarnia is the oldest and largest winter garden of its kind in Poland. Damaged repeatedly during World War II, with up to 60% of its glazing destroyed, it was first expanded in 1928-1929 before closing in 1978 due to disrepair. Its reconstruction, carried out from 1982 to 1992 using the technique of enveloping the existing structures to preserve the plants still in place, resulted in the current complex of ten pavilions covering 4,600 m², with a Victoria regia pool that has been a signature feature since 1922.
